I teach professional and non-professional level classes regularly through Training Society of Vancouver, Echoing Frog, and Harbour Dance Centre, and often as a guest workshop teacher in various educational settings. I host bi-monthly classes for beginner dance learners at the Gold Saucer Studio, called “Moving Together on Sundays”.
My training is based in European contemporary dance technique, contact improvisation and somatic movement modalities. After graduating from Modus Operandi Contemporary Dance School, I have continued my dance training as a dedicated student of Peter Bingham (contact improvisation) Helen Walkley (improvisation), and Stephanie Skura (Open Source Forms), and am in ongoing mentorship around creative practice and facilitation with Lee Su-Feh. I am a student of politicized somatics via the work of Generative Somatics, and I study somatic attachment with a collapse-aware lens with Carmen Spagnola.
I see dance class as a potential radical space for relational transformation. My interests in pedagogical approaches deeply inform my choreographic practice, and I believe that how approaches are shared is as important as what those approaches are.
As a teacher, I am committed to anti-oppressive frameworks, unlearning unhealthy relationships to obedience and power, and creating spaces where autonomy, rigorous play, and selfhood can flourish.
